Keeping Our Campus Safe
We are fortunate to have one of the safest campus communities in the country. Continued vigilance on everyone's part - faculty, staff and students - is key to helping keep our campus as safe as possible.

Dial 111 for On-Campus Emergencies
If you become aware of an emergency situation on campus, call security at 111 or 203-582-6200 from a cell phone. If you call 911 directly, it blocks communications between the Quinnipiac University security dispatcher and the scene of the emergency. The location of the call is recorded at Hamden emergency dispatch as simply "275 Mount Carmel Avenue" and not the originating building.
When you call 111, the security dispatcher can see exactly where the call is coming from and can relay that information to Hamden's emergency dispatcher. The campus security staff, the local emergency responders, police, fire, AMR (ambulance) and LifeStar all have copies of a color-coded, numbered map of the campus in every vehicle to eliminate confusion as to the location of an emergency.
Be prepared to provide the following information:
- Your name
- Nature of the incident
- Location of the incident
- Injuries, if any
- Phone number for a call back
In Case of Medical Emergency
If you witness a medical emergency, call security at 111 or 203-582-6200 from a cell phone. Security officers trained in CPR, AED and first aid will respond. The Hamden Fire/Rescue and AMR ambulance also will be dispatched.
