The Emerging Leaders Program is the first element of the tiered leadership program and specifically designed for first-year students. The curriculum focuses on students learning about "self." Program participants will reflect on what "leadership" means to them, assess their own style and learn about others. Participants will also focus on how to balance their time and involvement, start to develop goals, learn and practice communication skills and consider their perspectives about others who are "different."
The Emerging Leaders Program, specifically designed for new students, aims to accomplish the following:
Introduce students to basic leadership theories
Present opportunities for students to learn about their personal leadership style and goals
Provide opportunities for friendship and bonding with other first-year students.
Involve students in an overnight leadership/adventure retreat
Allow students to interact with established student leaders
Provide a foundation for participation in future student leadership development programs
