Important Tips:
  • Discuss with your roommates who will bring the microwave, the TV, rug, futon, etc. You may not want (or have room for) three or four of the same things around the room.
  • Find out the dimensions of your room online to see whether or not you will have room for a couch or a futon.
  • Don't spend lots of money on things for your room. They will get a lot of use over the year and you may end up throwing them away.
  • Make sure your clothes are machine washable. The last thing you are going to want to do is run to the dry cleaner every week.
  • Bring something dressy in case you are invited to a last-minute event. You never know!
  • Check out the Student Handbook online to make sure what items are not permitted in the residence halls
