The Quinnipiac University Hillel serves as the catalyst for Jewish life on campus. The goal of Hillel is to offer students an opportunity to share personal customs and traditions with our campus Jewish community, while broadening the feeling of friendship and family. We strive to assist students in creating a medium between Judaism and daily life through participation in Jewish events such as Shabbat, festivals and High Holy Day services.
Quinnipiac has approximately 350 Jewish students, many of whom are members of Hillel. The organization is open to all students interested in social and religious events about Jewish heritage. The organization coordinates religious services, holiday parties and Shabbat dinners and services. Worship services are held on selected Fridays throughout the school year.
As an organization, we make an annual contribution to the local Hamden Food Pantry--fulfilling our obligation to be part of our larger community as well as heal our world to the best of our ability.
Peter C. Hereld House for Jewish Life
The Peter C. Hereld House for Jewish Life, located at 560 New Road, is in close proximity to the heart of campus. The house--newly renovated in Fall 2012--is equipped with wireless access and features a living room with a fireplace and television, a rabbi's study, a deck and two conference rooms. Quinnipiac's Hillel is a chapter of the national Hillel organization: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life. Established in 1923, Hillel provides opportunities for Jewish students at more than 500 colleges and universities to explore and celebrate their Jewish identity through a global network of regional centers, campus foundations and Hillel student organizations.
Hillel helps students find a balance in being distinctively Jewish and universally human by encouraging them to pursue tzedek (social justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world) and Jewish learning and to support Israel and the global Jewish community. Hillel allows for students to explore and commemorate their Jewish identity by interacting with other Jews around campus in light of their common interest/heritage.

- Administrative support for smaller local Hillels
