Quinnipiac's English Department Writing Committee first conceived the Writing Across Curriculum program in October 2000. The first meeting included 12 faculty members from all schools and colleges in the University, including the School of Law.
In its first semester of operation, QUWAC invited Dr. Peggy Maki, director of assessment for AAHE, to speak about the history of writing-across-the-curriculum programs from her experiences at Beaver College, WAC and student assessment, and overall assessment of student learning using WAC practices.
We also developed a learning-outcomes strategy from the stated goals of the University’s core curriculum as a means to develop our first campus workshop for the School of Liberal Arts. The remainder of our activities are listed in chronological order in the history of WAC at Quinnipiac (PDF).
