November 17, 2006 - Rockefeller Center Tree Tops List Of Holiday Fun, Quinnipiac University New York City Poll Finds; Most Will Watch Parade On Television

Visiting Rockefeller Center and the tree is the favorite thing to see or do during the holidays for 33 percent of New York City voters, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.
Another 9 percent like to view holiday decorations, followed by 7 percent each for visiting family and friends or shopping and 6 percent who list Radio City Music Hall or concerts in general, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.
While 8 percent of New Yorkers plan to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade in person, another 55 percent plan to watch it on television.
Most New Yorkers - 58 percent - plan to spend the same amount on holiday gifts as last year, with 14 percent who plan to spend more and 24 percent who plan to spend less.
"A tree - a big tree - grows in Manhattan and New Yorkers never get tired of looking at it," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
From November 8 - 12, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,314 New York City registered voters, with a margin of error of +/- 2.7 percentage points.
