Study Abroad & International Education
At Quinnipiac, we offer a wide range of opportunities to support your goals and fit into your schedule. You might study for a full year or semester on one of scores of campuses around the world. Or you might take a two- to six-week short study course, taught by Quinnipiac professors. In the past, these courses have taken place in Ireland, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Canada and Costa Rica. More...
University Honors Program
Special small seminar courses, lectures, book discussions and other activities both in and out of the classroom are part of Quinnipiac’s honors program—which is designed for the University’s most academically talented undergraduates. Each year we welcome up to 60 incoming first-year students to the program. Entry to the program is by invitation only. After their first or second semester, students with strong records of achievement may apply to join the program. More...
Internships
In many majors, practical, real-world experiences are integrated into the curriculum. Communications students spend their summer on set and on the air. Political science majors assist elected officials at the state capital or in Washington, D.C. And each year, the Albert Schweitzer Institute awards an outstanding senior a one-year internship with the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress in Costa Rica.
Quinnipiac students have made their mark at the Pentagon, Goldman Sachs, WTIC-AM radio in Hartford, ABC’s Good Morning America, MTV, ESPN, Sony Music, the New York Yankees, HBO, Aetna, MSNBC and the Special Olympics, among many others. Check with each school or college for specifics.
Service Learning
Every semester, a dozen courses across the curriculum enable Quinnipiac students to reach out to the surrounding community. In Theater for Young Audiences, students teach workshops to elementary school students; in Ventures in Social Enterprise, students use business concepts and tools to help nonprofit organizations. Class time is balanced with a major assignment performed at a community agency, followed by personal and academic reflection on the experience. More...
Summer Research
Every year, select students receive Interdisciplinary Research Program grants and School of Health Sciences Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships that allow them to conduct in-depth research with faculty mentors during the summer.
Past topics have included “History of the Psychoanalytic Treatment of Anxiety,” “The Relationship Between Foot and Limb Length Discrepancies” and “Historical Study of the Stage: the Art of Being a Dramaturge.”
