Quinnipiac’s Division of Education offers this program for certified teachers to earn a math cross-endorsement for middle grades or secondary education. This six-month program is offered once per year and runs from fall to spring. The current session is
This certification strengthens your skill set and makes you eligible for more teaching opportunities in the job market.
Most of the instruction is online; however, the program includes three Saturday workshops on campus. This certificate and a passing score on the PRAXIS II exam qualify students to apply to the State Department of Education for a math cross-endorsement.
Students will develop lessons, assessments and performance tasks to integrate content with the Internet, graphing calculators, Geometer’s Sketchpad, Excel and PowerPoint.

Admission
The program is for teachers with provisional or professional educator certification. Teachers only holding a certificate with endorsements in vocational technical areas do not qualify for admission.
Candidates for middle-school endorsement should have completed college algebra with a grade of B or better within the last few years.
Candidates for secondary endorsement should have completed college calculus and statistics with a grade of B or better in each within the last few years.
In addition to standard technology requirements for all online courses, candidates must have a graphic calculator (TI-83Plus by Texas Instruments preferred) and a portfolio with problem sets, observation reports, reflective essays, teaching units, assessments and instructional technology material.
