A continuing exploration

The Bioanthropology Research Institute formed in 1998 and is administered through the Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences and Diagnostic Imaging in the School of Health Sciences. Ronald Beckett, associate professor of respiratory care, Gerald Conlogue, assistant professor of diagnostic imaging, and William Hennessy, assistant professor of cardiopulmonary science and diagnostic imaging, are co-executive directors of the institute.

The institute conducts research in biology, archeology, anthropology and paleopathology through diagnostic imaging, video endoscopy and laboratory analysis. The research is done on mummified humans and animals and ancient artifacts without destruction. The institute conducts workshops, gives presentations and does worldwide field travel.


QUEST Camp - July 14-18, 2008
Quinnipiac University's Engineering Science and Technology (QUEST) Camp will introduce high school students to intensive STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) content and laboratory activities under the guidance of the Bioanthropology Research Institute and Quinnipiac University faculty. Working with a genuine mummy, "George/Fred" from Ripley's Believe It Or Not, students will work as research teams to uncover the mysteries surrounding the mummy's life, death and mummification.
