Quinnipiac University has once again been named among the nation's best universities providing a full range of undergraduate and master's level programs in U.S. News & World Report's 2012 America's Best Colleges issue.
Quinnipiac ranked 11th out of northern universities offering undergraduate and master-level programs. The exclusive rankings include rankings of more than 1,600 schools nationwide. The results will be published in the September issue of U.S. News & World Report. In addition, Quinnipiac ranked second in the northern region in U.S. News' Up-and-Coming Schools category.
The U.S. News ranking system rests on two pillars. It relies on quantitative measures that education experts have proposed as reliable indicators of academic quality, and it is based on its nonpartisan view of what matters in education.
U.S. News gathers data from each college on up to 16 indicators of academic excellence. Each factor is assigned a weight that reflects the magazine's judgment about how much a measure matters. Finally, the colleges in each category are ranked against their peers, based on their composite weighted score.
In its methodology, U.S. News considers academic reputation, retention, student-to-faculty ratios, student selectivity and alumni giving rate, among other factors.
