Eleven middle school students from the Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School in New Haven visited campus Nov. 5, 2009. Rebecca Abbott, professor of film, video & interactive media, and Kenn Venit, a part-time faculty member in the School of Communications, helped the students to create a short newscast in the HDTV Studio in the Ed McMahon Mass Communications Center.

"This was a fabulous opportunity for our students," said Sylvia Petriccione, artistic coordinator at Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School.

This is one of many examples of Quinnipiac's community outreach. The University is constantly engaged in projects to benefit local residents and organizations. Faculty, staff and students raise money for charity, spend time with seniors, visit schools to read to children, coach youth sports teams, invite children to campus for social and education events and provide free legal service through our law clinics.
