Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for undergraduate and graduate business students, has named Quinnipiac's student chapter a Premier Chapter for the 2007-2008 academic year.
The Quinnipiac chapter was recognized for the fourth consecutive year for valuing academic excellence and having diligent faculty advisers working to enhance Beta Gamma Sigma's reputation on campus.
The recognition makes the chapter eligible to participate in the Beta Gamma Sigma Matching Funds Scholarship Program and the 2009 Outstanding Collegiate Chapter competition as well as the 2009 Outstanding Collegiate Chapter Advisor Competition. The chapter will be featured in the society's print and electronic publications.
"For the fourth year in a row, our Beta Gamma Sigma chapter has been named a Premier Chapter, recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of both our undergraduate and graduate business students. This is one of the most recognized honors that a business student can achieve," said Richard McCarthy, interim associate dean in the School of Business who serves as a faculty adviser to the student chapter. "We are thrilled that our chapter has been able to achieve such an accomplishment."
Beta Gamma Sigma is the national business honor society for undergraduate and graduate programs for schools that are accredited by the AACSB International. Membership is the highest honor that a business student can attain to recognize academic excellence.
To be eligible for membership, the academic ranking for those being considered must place them in the upper 7 percent of their junior class, or upper 10 percent of their senior class or upper 20 percent of their graduating master's class. In addition, a student must maintain a GPA above 3.75.
