The public speaking workshop, part of PATI's "Life After Hockey" program, strives to help former hockey players--many of whom are embarking on new careers in business--to improve their public speaking and presentation skills so they are better able to build their new ventures.
"The Professional Athlete Transition Institute is dedicated to meeting the career development, career transition, education and research needs of elite athletes and the organizations that serve them," said Duncan Fletcher, program manager and director of PATI.
The former NHL players who participated in the free workshop were: Dave Dryden, Karl Dykhuis, Paul Harrison, Dave Hutchison, Morris Lukowich, Jason Muzzatti, Phil Myre, Dennis Owchar, Jack Valiquette, Steve Webb and Rob Zamuner.
The program was led by Lisa Burns, associate professor of media studies, and former NHL player Bill Clement, a retired NHL player who is currently a broadcaster for NBC.
