Our Tutors and the Students they Help

Peer tutors are among the best and brightest Quinnipiac students:

  • They all earn an A or A- in all classes they support
  • They all have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (the overall GPA of the tutors is currently 3.8)
  • They are all recommended to the Learning Center by their professors
  • They have all completed at least the first level of the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) training requirements and most complete all three levels to become certified master-level tutors
  • Less than ¼ of applicants are usually accepted
  • Writing tutors have had their writing pass a review by both the Learning Center and the director of the Freshman Composition Program

The students they help are striving for the same goals:

  • In a typical fall semester, more than 1,200 students kept more than 4,000 appointments
  • These students earned an average GPA over 3.0

That means the students who use the Learning Center are high achievers who seek out tutorial assistance.

The Learning Center encourages all students to use peer tutors to earn better grades and, more importantly, to become stronger, more capable students.

Our Peer Tutoring program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.
