
Mark Thompson, dean of the School of Business, has been named senior vice president for academic and student affairs.
Thompson will assume his new position beginning this summer.
He replaces Kathleen McCourt, who is planning to retire. Thompson has served for the past five years as dean of the School of Business. Prior to that, he spent five years as associate dean, including three years as director of the MBA program. During his tenure, Thompson helped lead the school through AACSB accreditation and increased recognition on a regional and national basis.
Before coming to Quinnipiac, Thompson taught full time as assistant professor of economics at Marshall University for four years and as an instructor at Morehouse College. He also spent three years working as a branch manager at a Massachusetts savings bank. Thompson holds a PhD in economics from Georgia State University and a bachelor degree in economics/finance from Bentley College.
Thompson's articles have appeared in numerous publications, including the Journal of the Academy of Business Education and the Journal of College Teaching and Learning.
Thompson was selected from a pool of 100 applicants following a national search.
