Images of community care: World Summit of Nobel Laureates, Rome
 
On Nov. 10, 2004, David Taylor Ives, executive director of the Albert Schweitzer Institute, traveled to Rome to represent Quinnipiac at the World Summit of Nobel Laureates.

The purpose of the summit was to present innovative strategies and ideas that these world leaders can use in initiating and maintaining peace. Among the attendees were Mikhail Gorbachev, the former Soviet President who helped end the Cold War; Betty Williams and Mairead Corrigan Maguire, founders of the Northern Ireland Peace Movement; Oscar Arias, former president of Costa Rica; and Lech Walesa, the leader of the Solidarity movement that led the Poles out of Communism.
