12-16 Credit Policy
If you are a full-time undergraduate student at the University, you must register, at a minimum, for a full-time course load of 12-16 credits per semester. Students registered for a full-time course load as well as students who register for less than 12 credits without an approved “12-16 Credit Policy Exemption” will be charged full-time tuition and fees (Note: other charges such as Course Fees and Room and Board apply where applicable). Students registered for more than 16 credits will be charged full-time tuition and fees plus the overload rate for each credit over 16.
If your circumstances prevent you from being a full-time student and registering for a full-time course load, please request an exemption by emailing the Bursar's Office at bursar@quinnipiac.edu noting the student's name, QU ID, e-mail address, phone number, address and an explanation of the reasons for requesting a policy exemption. The deadline to file for this exemption is the beginning of the semester.
NOTE: If you are a financial aid recipient, please contact the Financial Aid Office to find out if your financial aid will be affected by enrolling in fewer than 12 credits.
Student Health Insurance
Quinnipiac University along with the Gallagher Koster Company has developed a student health insurance plan especially for students. The plan provides coverage for illness and injuries that occur on and off campus and includes special cost-saving features designed to provide affordable coverage.
This is a hard waiver policy. A hard waiver program means that all full-time undergraduate students MUST maintain major medical insurance coverage. Students may waive health insurance coverage if the student presents evidence of other health insurance coverage under a plan that provides benefits equal to or greater than the Quinnipiac University Student Health Insurance Plan. Students must document evidence of coverage and make an on-line waiver decision by the waiver deadline.

Dining Service Options
All students living in a campus residence hall are automatically enrolled in a dining service account. The dining service dollars available differ based on the residence hall in which you reside and can be spent at all campus dining locations. Options are also available to purchase dining service upgrades at fixed or variable amount. For more information, go to www.quinnipiac.edu/qcard and select eMarketplace.
