Gary Alger is director of the educational leadership program. Alger brings 25 years of school leadership experience into the classroom, having served as both a building principal and assistant superintendent of schools. He previously taught graduate courses in educational leadership at the College of New Rochelle and the University of Bridgeport.

His research interests focus on the unique contributions of educational leaders to school improvement as well as the issues related to retaining beginning teachers, and he has published and presented papers at national conferences on these topics. Alger earned his EdD from the University of Bridgeport.
