A high school student taking part in the Television News Institute on campus
More About the Institute

"We've had wonderful feedback from this program. Students learn to shoot, edit, and handle TV studio operations while writing and producing news, sports, weather reports and feature pieces, which are always fun. And they have working TV news professionals to help them develop their on-camera presence and performance. It's a fun and busy week. Students get valuable training in many aspects of TV news from those who do it every day in one of the best-equipped high-definition video studios in the country."
--Michael Calia, director of the Ed McMahon Mass Communications Center

"I would like to express my greatest appreciation for this past week. It was an amazing experience that I would not trade for anything. I learned so much and applied myself in ways I never imagined. The week allowed me to realize how much I enjoy the communication field of study and it showed me how exciting and timely the news environment really is. This experience was truly the highlight of my summer."
--Caitlin Goldberg, past participant

"I was able to develop a lot of ideas for my show at school. I look forward to going back and sharing what I have learned."
--Michelle Block, past participant

"Getting to not only do some reporting, but also to edit my own stuff has really shown me both ends of the broadcasting spectrum. These are lessons I'll utilize throughout my career."
