The Department of Biological Sciences offers a combined BS/MS program in biology and molecular and cell biology to qualified undergraduates in any of the concentration curricula: environmental science, evolution and genetics; molecular and cell biology; and physiology and comparative biology. Students in the environmental science, evolution and genetics concentration may need to take additional courses.
The MS degree in molecular and cell biology provides an excellent foundation for students who intend to pursue studies in professional health care fields and doctoral programs. It also offers a competitive edge for students who plan to pursue a career in biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industries. A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 and 70 earned credits at Quinnipiac are required for admission to the graduate program.
Students intending to pursue a combined degree:
Students in the combined BS/MS program complete graduate-level biology courses during their senior year. A maximum of nine credits may be used to fulfill both undergraduate and graduate requirements. A bachelor of science in biology is granted upon satisfactory completion of all the undergraduate curriculum requirements. Students complete the MS degree in molecular and cell biology in one additional year.
Students applying for admission are strongly encouraged to submit their application during the first semester of the junior year. Interested students should contact the chair of the biology department.
