After Quinnipiac

Take a look at our student work, and you’ll know that our interactive digital design graduates are ready for any number of opportunities in the field.

Whether in industry, research or academia, the prospects are very good for individuals with a digital design background—especially if that background involves formal training and education in digital imaging and design, with complementary technical skills in authoring and scripting. Some of the possibilities:  multimedia authoring, scripting and design, Web design and development, streaming media design, graphic design, production design, and technical direction for 3D computer graphics.

Meet some of our graduates:

Nicole Pallatto '03
Currently working as an art and production assistant at the Taunton Press in Newtown, Conn., Nicole Pallatto gained the experience needed to succeed in her career through Quinnipiac’s IDD program. “Thanks to the knowledge and supportive faculty, I not only found a field of work that I love, but I also gained a solid foundation of skills needed to succeed in that field,” Pallatto says.

Through the program, Pallatto gained experience outside the classroom as well. “Pattie Belle Hastings and the other professors encouraged us to see the bigger picture, and that was an invaluable lesson because the world beyond school is a much bigger place.” And she was ready for it. “I felt like I was already part of a step beyond school and getting into the real world,” she says.

Christine Simons '06
For Christine Simons, the typography and print design classes in the IDD department were her favorite. “[These courses] definitely helped me get to where I am today,” Simons says. “I loved the small class size in the lab. Everything felt extremely personal, which made it easier to get input from peers and professors. My professors always knew my name, and I wasn’t just another number or student.”

Currently working in Hamilton, Bermuda, for Tego Creative as a junior graphic designer, Simons enjoyed the personal attention that Quinnipiac had to offer. “I do not know where I would be if it weren’t for Pattie Belle Hastings and Jon Blake! Pattie Belle taught my first typography class and from there I was hooked,” Simons says. “I also had a computer crash during senior seminar final semester and [they were both] extremely understanding and helpful in such a stressful time.”

Heather Cote '06
There’s always room for inspiration. “The IDD courses allowed me to use creativity and other skills that I was not using in other courses,” says Heather Cote, who currently works for Pierce Promotions and Event Management in Portland, Maine. At Quinnipiac her concentration was in e-media, with a minor in marketing. “I felt the two complemented each other well because I was learning the business side, as well as the creative side to marketing,” she says.

The IDD program helped Cote get to where she is today. “The most influential IDD class was Senior Seminar,” she says. The students had to design a personal logo. “When I went to interview for my current job, the woman conducting the interview immediately commented on the business card. She thought it was a great way to stand out.”
