The mission of the Department of History is twofold. First, it provides intensive programs of study for students majoring in history that prepare them for graduate school, law school and careers in
public service or the private sector. Second, it provides opportunities for all students at Quinnipiac to familiarize themselves with the roots of American and Western civilizations, and the institutions that are the foundation upon which these civilizations rest. Students have the opportunity to study non-Western cultures and are encouraged to do so.
The faculty regularly reviews curriculum, including general education courses, for their relevance to its mission; conducts exit interviews with graduating seniors; and updates survey data from graduates that include GRE scores, admission to graduate schools, and employment.
