Students majoring in history take intensive programs of study that will prepare them for graduate school, law school and careers in public service or the private sector.  The major provides opportunities for all students to familiarize themselves with the roots of American and western civilizations and the institutions which are the foundation upon which these civilizations rest.  Students have the opportunity to study non-western cultures and are encouraged to do so.
