The Department of Psychology offers preparation for admission to graduate and professional schools, education in the liberal arts tradition in anticipation of employment after graduation, and, in its minor program, enhanced skills and knowledge for those majoring in other areas. The program emphasizes the ability to think critically about the different kinds of research and varying theories that distinguish psychology as a discipline. The psychology major prides itself on its preparation of students to think for themselves, without the pressure of having to espouse a particular approach to the study of the human mind.
