What grade point average (GPA) do I need to be considered for the Accelerated BSN option?
You will need an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in order to be considered for admission.
I am a senior in college, can I apply?
Students must have completed an undergraduate degree prior to the start of the Accelerated Track classes in May.
What are the prerequisite courses?
Students are required to complete the courses listed below prior to starting the accelerated program. Transfer credit is awarded only when a grade of C or higher is earned. Prerequisite courses must be taken from, minimally, a regionally accredited college or university. In addition, all prerequisite courses must be equivalent to the Quinnipiac University course descriptions. All prerequisite courses must have been completed within five (5) years of admission to the program.
Anatomy and Physiology I & II with labs at the 200-level [4 credits each course, 8 credits total]:

What is a regionally accredited college or university?
Accrediting agencies are private educational associations that develop criteria and conduct evaluations to determine whether or not a college or university meets the established criteria. There are many different accrediting agencies including regional accrediting agencies and postsecondary institutions of education must request an agency evaluation to receive accreditation from that agency. Transfer credit at Quinnipiac University is accepted only from regionally accredited colleges or universities.

Will the courses I completed for my previous bachelor's degree transfer to meet Quinnipiac's Core Course requirement?
All official transcripts from prior academic institutions will be evaluated by a transcript evaluator at Quinnipiac University. Transcripts are evaluated for University core requirements, current prerequisites (completed within the last five years) as well as open electives. Transfer credit is awarded only for courses from regionally accredited institutions with a grade of C or higher, and all prerequisite courses must be equivalent to the Quinnipiac University course description.
What are the University core course requirements?
Freshman composition (2 courses = 6 credits)

How long does it take to complete the program?
The program is completed in 12 consecutive months. Students attend a double summer session, and a fall and spring semester.
When does the program begin?
The Accelerated Program in Nursing is a consecutive 12-month program beginning each year in mid-May and ending at graduation the following May.
What degree will I earn?
You will earn a bachelor of science in nursing and be eligible to sit for the Registered Nurse National Council of Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN®).
I am completing prerequisites, can I apply now?
Many students are completing their prerequisite coursework during the application process. Students should begin the application process in the Fall prior to the May start date. Deferred admissions are not granted. Please refer to the application for details.
What is the cost and is there financial aid available?
The approximate cost for tuition and fees for 2009-10 is $55,000. This does not include cost of housing, books, uniforms, or travel to and from clinical sites. Financial aid is available for eligible students. Early contact with the Office of Financial Aid after acceptance is encouraged. Can I continue to work during the program?
The accelerated program in nursing is a full-time intensive program. Summer sessions meet 8 – 10 hours daily, five days each week for 13 weeks and some weekends. This schedule does not account for time students will need for reading, homework assignments, test preparation, lab and clinical preparation. You will not be able to work during the summer. During the Fall and Spring semesters you may be able to work on a very limited basis. Please check the semester credit loads illustrated in the course curriculum plan.
Is there a "less accelerated" plan to complete a BSN?
If you are a college graduate and wish to complete a second degree at a slower pace you are eligible to apply as a transfer student to the traditional undergraduate program You may complete the program over two academic years or four semesters following completion of the pre-professional undergraduate curriculum requirements. Where are the clinical affiliations?
Students participate in a variety of clinical experiences in both acute, long term care and community settings located throughout the greater New Haven area and slightly beyond. Most placements are within a 50 minutes of the campus. Although students generally carpool, you will need to have your own transportation. Affiliations include: Yale New Haven Hospital, Hospital of St. Raphael, Hartford Hospital and the Regional Visiting Nurse Association. View a listing of some of our clinical affiliations.
When do I need to submit my application?
Applications must be submitted no later than October 1.
When will I know if I have been accepted?
Admission decisions are made in late November and applicants are notified by early December.

Where do I send my completed application?

Is there housing available for Accelerated BSN students?
