The Graduate Nursing Program seeks to prepare professional nurses at an advanced theoretical and clinical practice level in order to address present and potential societal health needs.

The program is licensed and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and the Connecticut Department of Higher Education.

The nurse practitioner curriculum is directed towards preparing students to manage clients of diverse cultural backgrounds in various settings.

Quinnipiac's MS in nursing includes a core study that covers advanced concepts and theoretical foundations of nursing, research methods and health care policy and economics.

Candidates in the nurse practitioner program specialize to become adult or family nurse practitioners and are eligible for national certification by examination.

Graduates are also eligible for advanced practice licensure (APRN) in the State of Connecticut.  Individuals already holding a MSN degree may apply to the Nurse Practitioner Post Master's Certificate Program.

Mission of the Department of Nursing

We view nursing as both a science and an art that is creative, goal-directed, research-based and concerned with the health and dignity of the whole person. Our goal is to prepare graduates for professional nursing practice who are capable of providing holistic care for diverse individuals, families, communities and populations in a variety of settings.
