Every year, Quinnipiac University welcomes as many as 250 transfers. They quickly become part of Quinnipiac’s top-notch academic programs and lively student community, which supports more than 70 student organizations and an intriguing array of events and activities “after dark.”

Here are some details about life as a transfer:

Transferring Credits
Credits earned at regionally accredited college or university with a grade of C or better will usually transfer. Unofficial evaluations of credit are provided after admission, although prospective students may request one prior to applying. Official acceptance of transfer credit is completed after admission when a student matriculates into a program of study.

Placement Exams
All transfer students with fewer than six hours of approved transfer credit in English composition from another college must take the English placement exam prior to registering for any English course. A math placement exam is also required for students who are not transferring the equivalent of Quinnipiac’s math requirement and for proper placement in any math course required for a major. A foreign-language placement exam will be given as well. All placement exams are administered at orientation.

Getting to Know Students
Prior to the start of your first semester at Quinnipiac, you’ll attend transfer orientation, where you’ll meet other new students and get acclimated to campus, take placement tests and meet with advisers if necessary. You’ll also be encouraged to get involved in the many activities and organizations available to Quinnipiac undergraduates, such as WQAQ, Quinnipiac’s radio station, or our chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Housing
Transfer students can and often do live in university housing. Transfers are housed with other incoming transfer students of the same year in apartment-style residences on campus. Transfer Deadlines
For majors except those listed below with a specific deadline, we review applications once they become complete (rolling admissions). The admissions committee begins reviewing appplicants for the spring semester in October and for the fall semester in early February.  Transfer applications for the fall semester will be considered complete when we receive grades from the previous fall. Please keep in mind that we recommend you apply earlier than the dates listed to be considered for the program of your choice. 

Mid-November – Latest recommended date to file an application for spring semester (January)
Jan. 1 – The FAFSA application becomes available  
March 1 – Deadline for  completed application for transfer to physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy or nursing programs for fall semester.  Transfer applicants for these four programs are accepted on a space available basis only for the fall semester.
March 1 – FAFSA application due
April 1 – Latest recommended date to file an application for fall semester (August) for all other majors.
