Student Occupational Therapy Association

The Student Occupational Therapy Association promotes awareness and understanding of occupational therapy to the public and to our Quinnipiac community.

Throughout the year, the organization invites professionals from the field to speak to the members about what they do in their specialty areas.

SOTA has hosted a therapeutic magic workshop, an interactive program in which the students learned magic tricks and then worked in small groups to identify goals that a therapist and client might address using the tricks.

Other speakers that the organization has hosted include:

  • A pet therapist
  • A school-based therapist
  • Graduate students who discussed fieldwork, research projects and the graduate course work
  • A hand therapist

The organization also does many community-service projects and activities. For senior citizens in the surrounding area, SOTA made valentines and decorated pumpkins, and cosponsored a senior-citizen prom.

SOTA also brings together occupational therapy students at various levels in a mentor program, to provide support and ease the stress of college life.

For more information on SOTA, please contact Brigitte Rohan, president, at brigitte.rohan@quinnipiac.edu.
