Quinnipiac’s occupational therapy department strives to engage the student in learning activities that will promote the acquisition of information, independent use of scholarly materials, application of information to hands-on experiences in the labs and application of all the knowledge to real-life situations in service learning and fieldwork.

To meet this goal, we use the following teaching methodologies:

• Traditional classroom lectures
• Electronic access to information
• Application of knowledge to actual client cases and in lab simulations
• Observation and interactions in the field
• Synthesis of information through problem-based learning
• Analysis through critical-thinking activities and fieldwork level II
• Activities in the community through service learning

The ultimate teaching goal is to provide student-centered educational experiences in multiple settings, while the ultimate learning goal for students is to enhance critical thinking and analysis necessary for entry-level practice in occupational therapy.
