To transfer to Quinnipiac, you should have a high school diploma and earned college credit with at least a 2.5 GPA. Some health science programs at the university require a higher GPA. (Please see individual programs for GPA requirements.)

What credits are accepted by Quinnipiac?
Credits earned at a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of C or better that are similar to credits offered at Quinnipiac will usually transfer. Unofficial evaluations of credit are provided after admission, although prospective students may request an evaluation prior to applying. Official acceptance of transfer credit is completed when a student accepts an offer of admission to a program of study.

What types of academic scholarships are available at entry for transfers?
Merit based scholarships, including Phi Theta Kappa awards are offered to select incoming transfer students based on strong academic credentials. No separate application is required. Consideration is given to applicants who have completed two years of college and have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Awards range between $2,000 and $7,000 per year and are renewable provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.

If I don't meet the qualifications for a merit scholarship, is other aid available?
Transfer students may be eligible for federal financial aid.  Make sure you have filed the FAFSA, available at www.fafsa.ed.gov, as soon after January 1 as possible for the fall semester. When the federal processor completes the evaluation of the FAFSA, you and the university will be notified of the results. Students considering spring transfer who have not already filed a FAFSA should do so at the time they apply for admission. 

What majors are available to transfers?
All majors are open to transfers except the six-year physician assistant program. Physical therapy, athletic training, nursing and occupational therapy have limited space available and require that a student meet certain course and GPA requirements. Quinnipiac accepts transfer students into these four majors only for the fall semesters.

If I’m admitted, how will I know what courses to take and when to register?
Once an offer of admission to Quinnipiac is accepted and your deposit(s) paid, transcript evaluations are reviewed and finalized, discussions occur with academic advisers and online registration is completed prior to arrival on campus. Instructions are sent to students, and faculty or staff assistance is just an e-mail or telephone call away.

Does an accepted transfer student need to take placement tests?
All transfer students with fewer than six hours of approved transfer credit in English composition from another college must take the English placement exam prior to registering for any English course. A math placement exam is also required for students who are not transferring the equivalent of Quinnipiac’s math requirement and for proper placement into any math course required for a major. A foreign-language placement exam will be given as well. Placement exams are administered at orientation.

How do transfers get to know other students on campus?
Transfer orientation is held prior to the beginning of each semester, giving new students opportunities to form bonds with each other, get acclimated to campus, take placement tests and meet with advisers, if necessary.

What are the options for transfer housing?
If you are interested in university housing you should mark your preference on the application. Transfers are housed with other incoming transfer students of the same academic year in apartment-style residences on campus. Fall transfer students are notified of their housing assignment in August.
