The School of Education accepts applicants for admission only to the Fall semester. Prospective students should apply by March 31 to ensure admission into the program and a placement in an internship. However, we will accept applications through May 1.
Academic Requirements
Students who meet these requirements are admitted:
- Minimum 2.67 (B-) overall grade-point average from all colleges and universities attended
- Prescribed studies leading to competencies in language arts, mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences, history (including U.S. history), fine arts, a world language and physical education
- Passing score on the PRAXIS I exam (PPSTs) or a PRAXIS I waiver
Application Process
Applying to the School of Education requires the following:
- Two written recommendations from individuals who have knowledge of your suitability as a prospective educator
- A written essay completed on site
- A formal interview to demonstrate your communication skills, your ability to respond appropriately to classroom situations, a demeanor appropriate to the teaching profession and the commitment necessary to meet the program’s demands
Meeting the Program’s Standards
Students need to maintain a 3.0 grade-point average for graduate courses in each semester with at least B– or better in all education courses. If you earn a C+ or below in an education course, you need to retake the course and earn at least a B–.
