Quinnipiac University - Arnold Bernhard Library
Updated Sept. 22, 2009

The An Gorta Mor collection is located within the Arnold Bernhard Library. It offers a unique selection of books, original paintings, and bronze sculptures portraying impressions of An Gorta Mor - The Great Hunger.

The Quinnipiac University community and qualified researchers are welcome and encouraged to use the collection that includes approximately 600 volumes on the Irish famine and on events surrounding this tragedy. The collection is non-circulating; the books may be used only in the collection room itself. A list of holdings is available on the Arnold Bernhard Library web site.

Those interested in consulting the collection for research purposes should call the Bernhard Library Director at 203-582-8631 prior to their arrival to discuss their research and to make an appointment. Supporting documents, such as a letter of introduction, may in some cases be requested from the prospective researcher.

All research is to be conducted Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and is by appointment only. Researchers will be asked to check book bags, handbags, briefcases, etc. at the Circulation Desk. Researchers can take notes in pencil only or on a laptop computer. Pens are not allowed. Two books are allowed for use at one time.
