Interlibrary loan is a service that provides current students, faculty, and staff of Quinnipiac University with access to materials not owned by the Arnold Bernhard Library. These requests should be for materials needed to complete coursework, support research, or to enhance job performance. The Copyright law of the United States (Title 17, US Code) governs this service. Before requesting ILL, students should discuss their research with the librarian at the Reference Desk; the library may be able to provide other resources that will satisfy information needs. We will not request an item that is already in our collection or on order. Remember to check QCat and Journal Locator before submitting this request.
The ILL staff will make every effort to fill appropriate requests. Most libraries will not lend the following items, therefore we will not attempt to borrow:
There is no cost for Interlibrary Loan but students are limited to seven requests per week. You must allow two weeks for an item to be delivered, so please be sure to get an early start on your research. We cannot guarantee delivery within a specific period of time. Please be aware that ILL service for students ends two weeks prior to the final day of classes each semester.
As part of their seven requests per week, students are allowed to request the loan of books through ILL. Students are allowed to have no more than five book loans outstanding at one time. Book requests will not be submitted during the last four weeks of a semester.
Some libraries allow interlibrary loans to be renewed, others do not. If you need a renewal, please call the ILL office at 203-582-8635 at least two days before an item is due to inquire about renewing it. Overdue loan material may jeopardize our ability to borrow from other institutions.
