September 11, 2006 - Cuomo At 50 Percent Among Likely Dem Voters, Quinnipiac University New York State Poll Finds; Spitzer Has 6-1 Lead In Primary
Former Federal Housing Secretary Andrew Cuomo leads former New York City Public Advocate Mark Green 50 - 31 percent among New York State likely Democratic primary voters in the race for State Attorney General, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Sean Maloney gets 7 percent, with 11 percent undecided.

This compares to a 48 - 35 percent Cuomo lead in an August 23 poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

Attorney General Eliot Spitzer leads Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi 79 - 12 percent among likely voters in the Democratic primary for Governor.

Running for reelection, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton leads Jonathan Tasini 85 - 9 percent in the Democratic primary.

"The contest between Andrew Cuomo and Mark Green for Attorney General is the only race even close to close in tomorrow's Democratic primary," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "As always, it will come down to turnout."

From September 5 - 10, Quinnipiac University surveyed 613 New York State likely Democratic primary voters with a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.

The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida and nationwide as a public service and for research.
